Who are they?

BLUE: He is a puppet, and his look is extremely sad: his heart is broken in two and there is a teardrop ever-falling from his eye. But look can be deceiving, for Blue actually is the happiest of the puppets. Nobody can resist his sorrow. Everyone loves him, everyone hugs him.

JOY: He is a puppet and his look is extremely happy: a huge smile is printed on his face and his arms always reach for the sky. But once again, look can be deceiving, for Joy is the saddest and the most lonely of the puppets. Nobody ever wants to play with him.

Together the 2 puppets face, balancing between hope and cynicism, the most universal themes in life, dreaming to reach happiness but always falling a bit short. Hopes, ambitions, and dreams are the favourite victims of the two discouraging friends. Happy ending never seems to be included, but this doesn’t mean that the 2 are giving up their quest, since they’ll always keep on chasing happiness despite their endless series of failures. Blue and joy are a perfect losing model.

THEIR AUTHORS // Behind Blue and Joy there are two Italian minds: Daniele Sigalot (Rome 1976) and Fabio La Fauci (Milan 1977). Both have been working in the advertising industry as a copywriter and art director. They have been working in different agencies in Milan, Barcelona and London, where recently they resigned from Saatchi&Saatchi in order to focus only on their discouraging puppets. In 2008 they moved to Berlin where they opened the first Blue and Joy studio.
