"As a child, my favorite subject at school was always visual arts, I loved it! It relaxed me and show me new things, connect everything in a more intuitive but also with clearly defined work processes. I imagine that some of these impressions point me to study Architecture."

Based in Barcelona, Maria Aparicio is a Chilean architect and artist, most known for her geometrical patterns using the embroidery technique. Her pieces are collaborations with various photographers, where they supply the images, and she annexes the soul-crushing, inducing embroidery. Aparicio you could say is the woman who puts the icing or the cherry on top, executing them beautifully. Her unique use of colour and line leaves an interested discomfort and pleasure, with a strange and overwhelming sensation of being pulled.

"For me, this image has certain geometric patterns, sequences and elements that in my mind, are asking to be connected."

Aparicio cleverly explores what makes us who we are, as well as analysing the inexplicably interconnected nature which draws us all together.

"I am currently focused on developing various creative projects, among which are time of the thieves and Panamericana , both projects with Claudio A. Troncoso Rojas, collaborations with other people from my work that I have been developing with threads, between other things."
