Cinemagraph: Eccentric photographs in motion

14 Aug 2012

Jamie Beck, a New York City based photographer, in collaboration with Kevin Burg, a web designer with a background in video and motion graphics, has elevated the art of animated GIFs. Beck and Burg named the process "Cinemagraphs" for their cinematic quality while maintaining at its soul the principles of traditional photography.

The creative duo are looking forward to exploring future display technologies for gallery settings as well as pushing this new art form and communication process as the best way to capture a moment in time or create a true living portrait in our digital age while embracing our need to communicate visually and share instantly.

They really raised the GIF animation to a new level. People on these cinemagraphs are smiling, blinking their eyes at you, wind is ruffling their hair… And the first thing that come to my mind is Harry Potter. Pictures talking, moving- it really seems like they will just step out the photo!

Sit back, relax and enjoy with these cinemagraphs. They're more than just photos!
