The Terrace Collection

In the summer time when the weather is high, you can stretch right up and touch the sky. These were Mungo Jerry's words and how very true they are to drinks on a terrace where that extra height makes the heat of a summer evening a little more pleasant. And while I'm not sure about the weather being "high" but rather undeniably hot, there is no wavering when saying Barcelona's terraces are a dream. So here it is, my collection:

Barcelo Raval Hotel

You arrive into an impressive, plush interior, entering the lift the excitement will undoubtedly build, and then the doors open onto the 360° terrace - this hotel has a magnificent panoramic view of the whole city. The pool, the pool side bar, the view -everything is fabulous. And you can wind away the hours until sunset in the utmost privacy due to this place's cylinder shape.

Everyday 18.00 – 01.30.

Where? Rambla del Raval, 17-21. Metro: Sant Antoni.

L’antic Teatre

Hidden well, this cultural, artless bar in Gotico boasts an enormous terrace with cheap prices. Cocktails are €5.50 and a caña is €2 making this a perfect location for an evening drink.

When? Everyday 16.00-00.00.

Where? C/Verdaguer i Callis 12,

Closest Metro: Urquinaona.

Hotel Pulitzer

Slightly more upmarket this central Hotel opens its terraza to everyone during the spring and summer months. This place radiates coolness, which I'm afraid equates to high prices, the average Cocktail price is €10 euros and a cerveza is €4. However, on Wednesdays this place presents acoustic music and DJ sessions on Thursdays and Fridays. Don't expect much from the view, the atmosphere out does it.

When? Sunday to Wednesday 17.00-00.00 and Thursday-Saturday 17.00- 02.00 (May to September)

Where? C/Bergara, 8. Metro: Catalunya.

Ohla Hotel

ohlaThis flashy, well designed terrace gives spectacular views visible from a spectacular pool and spectacular sofas. Noticeable by its eyeball exterior, it’s showy, but its fish tank infinity pool is open to all until the end of September.

When? Everyday 18.30 – 01.00.

Where? Via Laietana, 49. Metro: Urquinaona.

Website: www.ohlahotel.com

Phone: 933 41 50 50
