Raw Format have a collective philosophy deeply rooted in the old school hip-hop mentality, which is all about breaking the rules with non-compromising raw art formats. Kid Suda comments that “It’s all about eclecticism and diversity while maintaining an overall sound, breaking away from the pigeon holes and genre boxes to produce music with a common feeling which we all want to listen to and enjoy”.
Kid Suda grew up a junglist and from an early age was inspired by pioneering labels such as Metalheads, Full Cycle, Warp and Ninja Tune, which lead him to the UK Trip-Hop scene and the art of scratching. By 2004 Kid Suda had already established himself as a DJ - his first residency at the original Dragon Bar in London led to a legendary open air Block Party and subsequently a DJ set at Banksy’s ‘Santa’s Ghetto’ Exhibition launch on Carnaby St.
Fast-forward to 2012 and after a four year stint in Barcelona playing host to 2000 strong warehouse parties and acting as tour support to Neneh Cherry on her European DJ tour, Kid Suda is finally ready to unleash his eagerly anticipated up-front productions.
TRACK 1:
Ever Love Shone is almost a teaser for what’s to come in Bloodshot, but wait for it. Ever Love Shone opens with a deep dubby intro, which drops and comes back with staccato broken beats and a melodic vocal cut up. When you thought it couldn't drop any lower, it hits back in the final break with low slung bass lines and evolves into an electronic dub workout.
TRACK 2:
Bloodshot is a force unto itself. A skanking tech-stepper tagged with heavy go-faster stripes and building electro stabs, it’s got dance floor endurance written all over it. It’s now we can hear Kid Suda’s Brainfeeder and techno alliances.
